~~NOTOC~~ {{ :projects:autos.jpg?800 |}} ===== NXP-CUP 2024 ===== On Tuesday, May 7th, our faculty hosted the NXP CUP competition, where the goal was to build an autonomous car capable of traversing the racing circuit in the shortest possible time and preferably detecting and stopping before an obstacle. Nine teams participated in the competition, coming from high schools and colleges across the Czech and Slovak Republic, such as Uniza, or even the RoboTrip club. The students' task was to build racing cars that could navigate the competition course without external help. The track is marked with a white base and bordered by black lines. The cars must use a camera to navigate. Based on the data from this camera, the car must make decisions and be able to navigate not only the bounded track but also the intersection that is part of the qualifying track. Once the participants have completed the circuit, the car is free to proceed to a bonus event called the Lap of Honor. During the Lap of Honor, the car should slow down after detecting the finish line and be ready to stop a maximum of 15 centimeters in front of the obstacle - a white cube measuring 20x20x20 centimeters. For the Lap of Honor, the team can earn points which are added to the ranking points based on time and can help the team to surpass the positions of faster teams that failed to stop before the obstacle. Two teams from the home faculty were able to earn the top two spots. The winning FiCar team, consisting of members Lukáš Poul, Martin Klimeš, and Matyáš Hlavinka, completed the course in a very nice time, just over 13 seconds. Just one-tenth of a second slower was the EmCar team with members Adam Mydla, Adam Valt, and Vojtěch Szotkowski. {{:projects:mpv-shot0009.jpg?240 |}}{{:projects:mpv-shot0023.jpg?240 |}}{{:projects:mpv-shot0030.jpg?240 |}} ===== NXP-CUP 2019 ===== NXP-CUP is an international competition for autonomous cars racing. The basic premise is to build and program the fastest car possible using NXP hardware. This competition is held annually and in our region(EMEA) we compete with teams from Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Students participating can work on the design of a car. Students can program the car's behaviour or both. Everyone can do whatever they are familiar with, but are also pushed outside their comfort zone to extend their range of skills. ---- {{:projects:part_design.jpg?580|}}{{ :projects:visual_data.png?150|}} ---- **Cars are not only racing for the fastest time but are also expected to perform additional tasks such as:** * Most laps possible in a given time on '8' shaped track. * Collision avoidance with an object present on the track that car must be able to detect and change its direction. * Barcode detection, where different barcodes on track represent behaviour required from the car. ---- {{:projects:at_work.jpg?240 |}}{{:projects:people_in.jpg?240 |}}{{:projects:our_cars.jpg?240 |}} ---- We are still actively working and preparing for next seasons. Feel free to visit us, there is always one free spot for new members. ;)
